I’m Jen, a multimedia journalist with a decade of experience in breaking news, investigative reporting, feature writing, fact-checking and editing.

As a freelance writer I am often working on solo projects from development though print, but as an editor and fact-checker I work with teams at magazines and video production companies. I enjoy being part of a team and taking on new projects and challenges just as much as I love uncovering and exploring new stories.

I have a wide range of experience, from quick turnaround breaking news spots to long investigative features driven by data and deep reporting. In addition, I have authored a short novel by commision.
Editing/Copy Editing
As an editor, I enjoy helping writers shape their stories and ensure that each piece is well-rounded, not just well told. I have experience in both top-editing and copy-editing for print and video.
Fact-Checking
In my over ten years of fact-checking experience for major publications, I’ve worked on stories from complicated hard-science features about groundbreaking work to light-hearted travel shorts.

Through fictional characters, set in historically accurate moments in time, this graphic novel explores the unjust systems and policies responsible for today’s social inequity in Richmond, Calif.
Growing up, I split my time between Southern and Northern California and had family and friends with diverse backgrounds and experience.
This appreciation for, and awareness of, the opportunities afforded some and not others drives much of the work I do today.
I’m passionate about deeply researched pieces, digging in to data to find untold stories, and highlighting people and communities often overlooked.
Together with my husband and two kids, I live in beautiful Bend, Oregon and love exploring the abundance of nature around us.
